“Our Missing Hearts” by Celeste Ng is a dystopian novel set in a near-future America where anti-Asian sentiment has led to the suppression of Asian-American culture and the forced relocation of children deemed a threat to national security. Twelve-year-old Bird, whose mother is a renowned poet, embarks on a perilous journey to find her after she mysteriously disappears. Bird is guided only by cryptic clues and the enduring power of stories in a world that seeks to erase them.
