“Songs of Willow Frost” by Jamie Ford tells the intertwined stories of 12-year-old William Eng (who refuses to believe his mother is dead and escapes the orphanage to find her) and his mother Liu Song, a renowned actress who fled a troubled past to pursue her dreams. As William navigates the streets of Depression-era Seattle with his friend Charlotte, he discovers the truth about his mother’s life and the sacrifices she made for him,  while Liu Song grapples with guilt and the consequences of her choices.
