The Art of Hearing Heartbeats: A Novel by Jan-Phillip Sendker

With the mysterious disappearance of her father, Julia discovers a love letter that he had written to a Burmese woman. She puts everything on hold and heads to a small village in Burma looking for this mysterious woman from her father’s past. Julia learns about her father’s secret past, and just how powerful love is.
