My pup and I traveled from Meissen, Germany c.’1830-40. We made our home with Mary Hulton Phillips, Founder of The Maridon Museum, on March 19, 1999. This was five years before the opening of the museum, so I was in a position to greet many more newcomers from my hometown before the museum opened in 2004.
Mrs. Phillips welcomed hundreds of us to share her home and her new museum. She believed we were so special that she dedicated an entire gallery to us. Now known as The Meissen Gallery.
Interesting to note that Mrs. Phillips not only liked porcelain pugs but furry ones as well. There was Su Ling, Bentley, Ming, and Ming Ling that I recall. Ming Ling was just a baby when Mrs. Phillips went to rest at the Rainbow Bridge with her other pugs.
In 2018, I was a very special temporary exhibit, “Year of the Dog,” located in the museum’s Side Gallery. Please visit stop in and visit me.
