I am a wooden, red, and gold lacquered Takarabune (treasure boat) with a rooster as my masthead. I am guided through the heavens by the seven gods of good fortune, a very special crew indeed! They grant wealth, happiness, longevity, and good luck in many ways. People do look forward to our arrival in their ports. Our masthead, the rooster, has been guiding our journey from Japan to our final destination, The Netsuke Exhibit in the Rear Gallery of The Maridon Museum. He’s the perfect traveling companion, symbolizing kindness, hospitality, and good fortune in business. We’ve been traveling since the late 19th century, so we welcome the tranquility of the museum. Please see if you can locate us among the many netsukes on exhibit.
