Snuff Bottle

I am a beautiful turquoise snuff bottle with pierced, carved floral decoration on my front and sides. I have a lovely stopper that is also decorated with flowers. In 2006, two years after opening The Maridon Museum, Mary Hulton Phillips, founder, decided to enhance her collection of snuff bottles, and I was one of several unique and lovely bottles to join her.

Because such beauty should not be kept hidden, three members of the museum’s Collections Committee – Carole Fruehstorfer, Anne Miller, and Cyndy Sweeney – designed a special, temporary exhibit of snuff bottles for the Side Gallery. But it was decided we were so special that we would remain there permanently. Please come to visit us.
