SUMMARY:March Book Club: Counterfeit by Kirstin Chen
DESCRIPTION:3:00 p.m.\, Thursday\, March 28\, 2024\nCounterfeit by Kirstin Chen\n \nDownload the complete book club flyer. \nAva Wong\, a Chinese-American lawyer\, seems to have a perfect life with a successful surgeon husband\, a son\, and a beautiful home. However\, her marriage is crumbling\, her law degree goes unused\, and her toddler’s tantrums are overwhelming. \nWinnie Fang\, Ava’s college roommate from China\, reenters her life after two decades. Winnie\, now confident and immersed in luxury\, runs a counterfeit handbag scheme. She recruits Ava\, who has a U.S. passport\, to help. When their success is threatened\, and Winnie disappears\, Ava faces consequences. \n“Counterfeit” is a swift\, surprising\, and sharp feminist caper challenging the model minority myth. It explores luxury goods\, Chinese factories\, and the aspirations of two determined women. \nPlease join us for all our upcoming in-person Book Club meetings. We also will offer Zoom platform meetings for those not comfortable meeting in person at this time. \nTo register\, or if you have questions\, please call 724-282-0123 or email info@maridon.org.
